Native iPhone app · Self-initiated
CalcVault.
A working calculator with a personal vault beneath the surface. A native SwiftUI project by James.

CalcVault is James’s self-initiated native iPhone project, built in Swift and SwiftUI. It combines a calculator with a PIN-accessed vault for photos, videos, files and notes. James designed and developed both the interface and the application logic.
The job to be done.
The project brings two different interactions into one interface: a familiar calculator and a personal collection of several types of content. The experience also needs to account for first use, authentication, empty collections, imports and returning after the app has been in the background.
Thought through.
Built with care.
James developed the interface, transitions and light and dark appearances in SwiftUI. Entering a PIN and holding the equals button opens the vault, with optional biometric authentication on supported devices. Native iOS capabilities handle media import, previews, sharing and video playback. Local encrypted persistence uses CryptoKit, with key material stored in the iOS Keychain.
Out in the world.
The implemented iPhone codebase connects the visible screens with authentication, content handling and local storage. The images show the calculator and first-run introduction in both appearances, using demonstration content. This is a native application, separate from browser-based website development.
